My husband and I got matching Sailor Jerry-style swallow tattoos on our ribs while on our 5-year wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii. This is a photo of my husband's tattoo. These were our first tattoos, at ages 25 and 27, and they have a lot of meaning. Sailors traditionally got swallow tattoos after each 5,000 miles at sea - so we each got a swallow to celebrate our first 5 years of marriage. We both plan to get another swallow on our 10-year wedding anniversary.
